25 Ontario Reaches Key Milestone with Occupancy Permit
First Gulf is proud to announce that 25 Ontario has officially received its occupancy permit, marking the transition from an active construction site to a fully operational office tower in downtown Toronto.
Originally acquired from the Toronto Sun, the site was initially explored for student housing before shifting to a commercial development strategy, building on the success of the nearby Globe and Mail Centre. To enhance the project’s footprint and functionality, an adjacent parcel was secured from neighbouring SAS, allowing for an optimized floorplate.
Construction began following EQ Bank’s lease commitment but was temporarily paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout industry-wide disruptions, including supply chain challenges and infrastructure adjustments, the project team remained agile—collaborating with multiple trades to maintain progress and deliver the building to a high standard.
25 Ontario has achieved LEED Gold Core and Shell certification from the Canada Green Building Council, underscoring First Gulf’s and partner HOOPP’s shared commitment to sustainable, high-performance office development.
